Ithaca SBT 4V information
I have the pleasure of presenting an Ithaca SBT 4V 12ga shotgun custom engraved by Walter Kolouch. Walter Kolouch was trained by Ferlach as a master gunsmith and engraver.
The gun was made in 1949 and the custom engraving was done in 1964 for the owner at that time, Mr. Bill Jaqua of Jaqua’s Gun Shop only 6 guns were done like this one.
The left side of the action has 4 gold quail and one setter, the right side has 3 gold ducks and one white gold setter. The lower receiver has a gold eagle with a white gold rabbit in its talons, and a white gold setter with a duck in its mouth.
The gold is 24 kt at .030 -.040 thick with 1/3 set into the gun and 2/3 above the steel. The engraving is arabesque scrolls, the rib and the posts as well as 5” of the barrel are also engraved. This is the only one where the rib and rib posts are engraved.
According to Mr. Kolouch $2000 to $3000 worth of gold were used and to do such an engraving in 2019 it would cost $17000, as far as I know Mr. Kolouch is still alive today. (As per letter received in 2019 by the current owner from Mr. Kolouch I can furnish you with a copy if so required)
Open to realistic offers if you are serious about this gun.
